UNDER 16'S GIRLS MATCH REPORTS

Twyford Under 16's Girls

Twyford Spartans v Totnes and Dartington - Sunday 16th November

The Under 16s had not played for a few weeks and this showed in the beginning as they played at home to League leaders Totnes and Dartington in the cup.  They took time to get going only to find themselves 3-0 down after ten minutes.  This spurred the Twyford girls and they began to play some good football and gained a well deserved goal through Keanna Maryan.  Playing excellently for Twyford was Jude Aitchison.

Twyford Spartans v Exmouth Amateurs - Sunday 26th October

Twyford Under 16s also entertained Exmouth Amateurs and showed how much they had improved on last season when they lost 15-0.  With a team performance they were only 1-0 down at half time.  The game was played on a heavy muddy pitch and this told on the girls legs towards the end on the game when Exmouth scored two more goals to make the final score 3-0.  Good performances came from Keanna Maryan, Steph Lane, Jo Jarman, Shannon Highfield and Rachael Godfrey.

Twyford Spartans v Watts, Blake & Bearne - Sunday 19th October

Twyford Spartans Under 16s Girls with just 9 player narrowly lost 1-0 to Watts , Blake & Bearne.  Stand in goal keeper Tina Goldsworthy performed well including saving a penalty.  Rachael Godfrey was outstanding at the back, Lisa Durrant and Steph Lane ran their hearts out.  Abbi Adcock and Jo Jarman were a constant threat up front.  Kiki Maryan and Ellen Harvey battled well and Jude Aitchison was excellent in supporting the midfield and strikers hitting the post with a 25 yard curler and forcing several saves out of the visitor’s goalkeeper.

Watts, Blake & Bearne v Twyford Spartans - Sunday 28th September

Twyford Under 16 Girls travelled to Watts Blake & Bearne with 10 players.  They put in an excellent performance with the score level at 1-1 at half time thanks to a goal from Jo Jarman.  Twyford then lost Keanna Maryan through injury leaving the remaining 9 girls to battle on.  Jo Jarman went on to score another goal but it wasn’t enough as WBB went on to win 5-2.  Playing well for Twyford were Rachael Godfrey and Jude Aitchison.
